Bill Horton Successfully Defends Appeal Against Kid Rock
When Kid Rock (real name Robert Ritchie) hit it big, a group of former business associates tried to cash in. They claimed that a series of contracts entered into in 1989 were still valid and gave them a portion of his hard-earned money. Kid Rock retained CH&G. Horton claimed that the contracts were actually governed by copyright law and were barred because too much time had passed. In a case of first impression in the federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the court held that the copyright laws completely preempt state law and had to be brought within three years of when the claim accrues. Since the former business associates had waited almost 10 years, they were time barred.

Under the RCI program, military family housing throughout the country will be privatized. CH&G is one of only three firms in the United States approved to assist Army in this program.
CH&G will perform legal services for RCI projects at Fort Irwin, California; Fort Hamilton, New York; and Fort Detrick/Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Maryland/Washington, D.C. resulting in the demolition of old housing units and the creation of new or renovated homes for our soldiers and their families. CH&G is proud to be a partner with the Army in the RCI projects.
