ALBERT TAYLOR NELSON, JR.
Albert Taylor Nelson, Jr. is of counsel to the firm and specializes in litigation and workers’ compensation. Mr. Nelson received his
Bachelor of Arts degree in history and his Master of Arts degree in Public Administration from the University of Detroit. He received his law degree from Wayne State University. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Nelson taught Social Studies at the nationally renowned Cass
Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan.
Over the years, Mr. Nelson has been active in the community, involving himself with numerous civic and professional organizations. In
March 2008, he became a fellow of the ABA College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, a national organization established to honor
distinguished workers’ compensation attorneys. In March 2009, Mr. Nelson was elected to the College’s Board of Directors. Further, he is a board member of the American Red Cross Southeastern Michigan Blood Services, serving as Secretary and on the Executive Committee.
Additionally, Mr. Nelson is the chair for the City of Troy’s Personnel Board; and member of Detroit Workplace Development
Commission. Other civic and community board and member affiliations include the Economic Club of Detroit, life member, Optimist
Youth Foundation of Detroit, board member; Optimist Club of Northwest Detroit, member; and Detroit City Year, board member.
Formerly, Mr. Nelson was an appointed public member to the Board of Optometry, and served as Chair of the Jurisprudence and
Disciplinary Sub-Committees; board member of Girl Scout Council of Southeastern Michigan and Vice Chair and First Vice President
of Booker T. Washington Business Association. He was also a former trustee of the Detroit Historical Society, Michigan Library and
Historical Center and Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan.
